Fieldstones

A variety of stones, which can be easily gathered from the surface of the ground or collected without extensive excavation.  Fieldstones are often used in construction of retaining walls, sidewalks, etc… Fieldstones can be recovered in many geographic areas and often contribute to the vernacular architecture of the region.
