Ranch - Minimal Traditional

The ‘Ranch Minimal Traditional’ style is similar to the ‘Minimal Traditional’ style in many aspects.  Like the Minimal Traditional, the Ranch Minimal traditional is typically rectangular in plan, usually with a side gabled roof.  Construction materials can vary. One of the most key components is very little architectural or decorative detail. 

Identifying Features:

  • Simple, linear plan typically no wings; occasionally have “L” plan
  • Typically side-gabled roofs
  • Weatherboard, asbestos shingle, wood shingle common
  • Facades sometimes veneered in brick or stone
  • Set close together on small lots
  • Sometimes feature an attach car port
  • Generally feature a large picture window
